The Detoxifying Power of Green Coffee Enema
While we have all read or heard about the Antioxidant benefits of drinking small amounts of organic black coffee daily but have you ever thought of the health benefits of Organic Green Coffee if injected into the colon? Research shows that coffee enemas are a very effective way to clean out the lower intestines, cleanse you liver and Gallbladder and improve your health.
Coffee enemas are known to help flush out bacteria, heavy metals, fungus and yeast (like those responsible for candida symptoms) from the digestive tract, including the liver and colon, while also lowering inflammation — therefore helping people restore bowel function, increase their energy levels and heal from disorders that have caused them trouble for years.
Coffee enemas have been used for centuries and are now being used by many health care probationers helping to restore gut health. This treatment although not used in a mainstream way to fight illness, coffee enemas are nothing new. They’ve been around since the late 1800s and were used at the time to help speed up healing following surgeries or to combat cases of accidental poisoning. First made famous by the Gerson Institute in the 1950s, when it began using coffee enemas as a key to treating cancer patients, others are now turning to this procedure for various ailments that don’t respond well to traditional treatments or prescription medications.
At Lavida Health we use coffee enemas as part of natural our treatment protocols for fighting cancer, parasites, liver dysfunction, candida virus, IBS and other digestive disorders.
So how does a Coffee Enema work?
According to the Gerson Institute they remove toxins accumulated in the liver and remove free radicals from the bloodstream. Coffee beans naturally contain antioxidants and other beneficial compounds to reduce inflammation. Regular bowel movements are crucial for carrying waste and toxins (like heavy metals or excess fatty acids) out of the body. Research has shown that during a coffee enema the Coffee opens up blood vessels and improves circulation. When the coffee has reached the liver it opens the bile ducts in the liver and the gallbladder and increases the production of bile which is needed for proper digestion and elimination.
Coffee enema’s also help to stimulate the production of a beneficial enzyme created in the liver called glutathione S-transferase, which acts like an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and natural blood cleanser.
What are the Benefits of a Coffee Enema?
1. Increases Antioxidant Activity
Coffee enemas are believed to increase production of glutathione (GSH) above normal levels up to 700%! GSH has the ability to scavenge free radicals within the digestive tract helping to reduce inflammation, improve poor gut health, and reverse liver disease and cellular damage. Once free radicals are neutralized, the liver and gallbladder produce bile that carries toxins out of the body through bowel movements.
2. Used to Fight Cancer
Max Gerson, M.D., author of “A Cancer Therapy,” which was published in 1958, has successfully used coffee enemas in thousands of cancer patients. (8) Dr. Gerson made coffee enemas famous as a natural cancer treatment when he pioneered the use of a special anti-inflammatory diet combined with nutritional supplements and daily enemas for speeding up detoxification.
According to the National Cancer Institute, an organic vegetarian diet plus pancreatic enzymes and coffee enemas were the main features of the Gerson Therapy that intended to build up the immune system of cancer patients and restore electrolyte balance (such as levels of potassium in cells). (9) Many of his patients were able to stop their pain medications and help restore liver function and tissue repair by performing sometimes up to six coffee enemas per day.
3. Improves Detoxification
Acting similarly to “a form of dialysis of the blood,” coffee enemas help remove unwanted materials from the gut wall and bloodstream. Dialysis is considered a forced or artificial method to enhance detoxification, and that’s exactly what coffee edemas do since they help the body expel waste materials. The primarily role of the enema is to mechanically wash out the colon, removing potentially harmful parasites, bacteria, yeast and heavy metals that contribute to inflammation and therefore disease. Picture your Liver and Colon like a Full coffee filter; when you turn the filter upside down and run liquid through it the filter is instantly cleaned!
4. Relieves Constipation
Constipation is one of the most common problems for adults, which is why laxatives are one of the
most widely purchased over-the-counter medicines there is. If you’re one of millions of adults who struggle to poop regularly, you’ll be happy to know that coffee enemas provide natural constipation relief in several ways. First off, the increase in water that is inserted into the colon helps stimulate peristalsis in the gut, while a portion of the water also helps increase bile production.
The mechanical effects of the enema cause the colon to become more active and facilitate the emptying of stool and removing of impacted feces, toxins and food residues that can cause constipation. Coffee might also help clean out diverticuli in the colon, which are slight openings in the colon wall that can cause left-behind food particles or bacterial organisms to become trapped.
People usually experience the best results from coffee enemas when they also drink plenty of water and improve their diets, such as cutting out inflammatory foods like sugar, white refined flour and hydrogenated fats that can slow down digestion.
How to Do a Coffee Enema at Home
At Lavida Health we offer Organic Green Coffee Enema’s in many of our natural health protocols. We also offer them as a service here in our clinic. This will allow you to have the peace of mind knowing a Natural Health care practitioner will show you how to do the enema safely from Start to finish your first time.
If you prefer to buy the kit and coffee and do the enema in the comfort of your own home here are the step by step instructions:
Make sure that you use an organic ground green coffee. Add 3 TBS of Coffee to 1L of purified water and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat and let the coffee simmer for 20 minutes.
Allow the liquid to cool to a temperature that is comfortable to your skin or just slightly warm.
Once the coffee is cool or to a temperature that you are comfortable with pour the coffee through a strainer (don’t use a paper filter it will remove too much of the coffee) into your Enema Bucket or Bag. Make sure the catheter clamped closed.
Place the bucket/bag in the sink and Loosen the clamp to allow the coffee to run out to the end of the catheter tip and re-clamp the bag when all the air has been removed from the enema tubing.
Use a coat hanger or bungee cord to hang the enema bag at least two feet above the floor; on a door knob or towel rack. The bucket can rest on a chair, shelf or be held. Do not hang it high, as on a shower head, because it will be too forceful and the hose won’t reach. It should flow very gently into the rectum and distal sigmoid colon only. It is not a high enema or colonic. Allowing it to go well up into the colon may introduce caffeine into the general circulation as though you had taken it by mouth.
Lie down on the floor on your right side and gently insert the catheter. If you need lubrication organic cold pressed coconut oil works great. It is generally a good idea to avoid petroleum products.
Gently insert the tube into the rectum a few inches and then release the clamp and let the coffee flow in. Clamp the tubing off as soon as there is the slightest amount of discomfort or fullness. Do not change positions or use an incline board to cause the enema to enter further into the colon; this defeats the purpose of this type of enema.
Try to retain the enema for a minimum of 15 minutes. Sometimes there will be an immediate urgency to get rid of it and that is fine. It helps to clean the stool out of the colon so that next time around you can hold more of the enema longer. Never force yourself to retain it if you feel that you can’t. When you have clamped the tubing, remove the catheter tip and void when you have to.
If you feel wired or hyper, or have palpitations or irregular heartbeats after a coffee enema, you should reduce the amount of coffee, usually by half for a few days or weeks.
Always discontinue the enemas if there is any adverse reaction whatsoever, and discuss it with the doctor at your next appointment. If you find the enema helpful, do not use it more than once per day for any extended period without medical supervision. Use it as necessary, perhaps several days in a row, but more commonly a few times a week.
